A country that has cycling in its heart, combined with guides that have cycling in their blood. This equals the perfect formula for a bike holiday in Italy. Controvento was born after more than a decade of experience, friendship and insights gained by taking cyclists on road adventures around this amazing country. Now, we have planned and carefully selected these amazing destinations so you can savour the soul of Italian life, creating your own memories one pedal stroke– or hiking step– at a time.
In Italy, the best time to cycle is during the Spring and Fall, when temperatures are mild and there are fewer tourists. Specifically, April, May, September, and October are ideal months for a cycling trip.
During Spring, the weather is pleasant and comfortable, with temperatures ranging from 15°C to 20°C (59°F to 68°F) across most regions.
The countryside is at its most beautiful during Spring, with flowers in bloom and rolling green fields stretching out in every direction.
In the fall, the weather remains mild, and the leaves change color, creating an incredibly picturesque cycling experience. Planning a bike tour can be a fun and engaging activity. If you have ideas about potential dates, feel free to let us know. We’re here to help turn your cycling dreams into an amazing vacation.
Cycling in Italy during the summer can be a daunting task due to the scorching temperatures that can reach over 30°C (86°F) in many regions. Nevertheless, if you’re determined to conquer our majestic mountains in the Alps and Dolomites, the ideal time to embark on your adventure would be in June and July. During this period, the snow begins to melt, and the summer crowds haven’t yet arrived, providing a peaceful and enjoyable experience.
Get inspired and put your stamp on your own trip! Whether you want to make some alterations to an existing trip, or make a completely new trip of your own, just drop us a line and we will be happy to build it together with you.

It is not just about the bike. The bike is the rider's connection to all the Italy has to offer - its rich history, great food and great culture. I would recommend Controvento to anyone looking for a unique riding experience.

Perfect trio tour
What an epic hiking experience! Andrea thoughtfully planned an itinerary that highlighted the region best hikes with knowledgeable local guides, great hotels and visits to local farm to table restaurants. They were flexible in hike changes as weather reports dictated. The hiking guides were personable and enthusiastic when discussing their regions. You could see their pride and love when speaking about their areas. Really enjoyed the spa experiences at terme bath in Bormio and spa at hotel stores

MammaMia tour
The trip was a great success: professional organization, effective communication (the interactive PDF and use of WhatsApp were excellent ideas), and genuine care for the participants. The cycling experience was outstanding and exceeded expectations, while the hiking component could be improved with more targeted planning to suit different ability levels. A few helpful suggestions: better clarify dietary rules and activity changes to avoid confusion. Overall, it was a memorable experience full of connections, with the desire to contribute again in the future.

Dust in the wind
The highlight for me was Giro day, and the way you and Livio planned it out. This was my best cycling day in my lifetime. The other days were just so excellent as well. I loved the old villa style hotel accommodations. The view and the ambiance of old Italy was 5 star in this hotel. The breakfast and dinners were just amazing. We enjoyed the service for our small group around the table, and with the slower pace of traditional Italian service and foods. Our meals were complimented each night with a bottle of fine wine, and usually ended with limoncello or grappa. We were set up for lots of discussion of the days activities and much laughter. We started each new day with an abundance of breakfast delicacies, and cappuccino, and cycled out to a different village each day.
